One Goal off my Checklist

The mind frame of thinking, I have forever to write my scientific paper is the wrong attitude. It is best to use the Swiss Cheese Method; break down the writing into smaller portions throughout the term. Also, gather substantial information that is relevant to your thesis statement, so that you have a good idea of where your paper is going.

I would like to think my organizational skills have improved in the past 10 weeks. When reality sets in, this is untrue but I aspire to become a more organized individual. Writing has improved my communication skills and the value of prewriting. Thesis statements, still one of weaker points but it did improve my first thesis ever written. Procrastination is not going to be associated my name next term; however, I definitely enjoyed learning the technical aspect of writing.

I'm Free

Finally the day has come, to sit back and read the finished product. A love, hate relationship form while writing this controversial paper. I love the fact of gaining knowledge about GM foods, I despise being a procrastinator. Any type of research paper gives me an overwhelming feeling of tiredness towards the end. If I had the choice, two months would be the adequate time frame to write a paper.

Writing is powerful; it allows me to express deep emotions and feelings. GM foods is an alluring topic, so I am going with my research and become a GM expert..lol.

Me a Blogger

In the beginning, blogging seemed difficult because it was unfamiliar territory. Now, being more comfortable with this experience has helped me to become a more expressive person. I enjoyed reading every ones blog and their perspective on life, school, etc. Surprisingly, no drastic issues arose while posting my blog.

I appreciated any comments that were towards my blog post. Mostly, I would wait until the last minute to write the requirement for the blog, so I didn’t expect many responses. I absolutely enjoyed the creative aspect of blogging. I am unsure whether to continue to blog but I do believe it is essential to write, whether in blogs, journals, or a diary. This way you may continually progress into a stronger writer.

Peer Review

Peer Reviews are unnerving situations for me; I think it stems from desiring positive feedback without harsh or negative criticism. Surprisingly, every peer review so far has been given in a positive light. My fellow classmates gave constructive criticism which made the situation less unsettling.

Ah Ha moments came almost every five minutes when writing this research paper. Ideas would come to mind about ways to write stronger sentences or incorporating credible information with my ideas. I embraced any Ah Ha moments because it allowed to me think outside of the box.

Not knowing anything about Genetically Modified Foods, any information I received relating to these foods was shocking to me. From gene-splicing to U.S. Food and Drug Administration policies, this research paper was an eye-opening experiences and I am glad to have chosen this topic.

Genetically Modified Foods?!!

My research paper is on genetically modified foods, I decided to focus more of the chemistry and/or DNA compared to non GM foods. Of course, explain the negative and positive affects this causes to body’s function. I am still contemplating on whether to incorporate the views of different companies about these foods, since this is a research paper. I open to any suggestions; hopefully, I will have this figured before the end of the week.

In the past six weeks by mother become ill and had to stay in the hospital for awhile. She is my heart; my school definitely was put on the back burner. I am glad to say she is doing much better thanks to the excellent medical staff. Much talk to her about my research brought her interest in understanding GM foods. GM food is current topic that affects any individual that consumes foods, some unknowingly. I hope to awaken readers mind with the interesting information found. Maybe, somebody will be inspired to do research on their own about GM foods.

The Beautiful World of Writing

To write any type of paper in an allotted time frame seems to take me longer to develop and/or complete ideas. I try to let the writing process be nice, slow and not rushed. Rushed writing doesn’t bring out my better writing skills. I love visuals, usually any information I jot down has to be bulleted, in a bubble or highlighted. From trial and error, I realized that writing better requires me to talk out loud to myself and then write the sentence. I guess this is a useful way for me to process the information.

My academic challenges are going to arise in any type of problem that is math related. Math has been my number one struggle for many years. I enjoy Kaplan’s approach to teaching mathematics better previous college I had attended. School has opened my eyes to my lack of time management. I hope to better at time management before the end of this term.

Uh Oh Plagiarism

Plagiarism is a serious offense which may lead to academic probation or being expelled from an university or college. These consequences apply whether the act of plagiarism was intentional or accidental. There is one rule that will eliminate any type plagiarism, give credit to the authors.

I had a personal experience where an associate stole my idea for a project. I was not aware of the situation and turned my idea in before I did. Words could not describe the feeling that overcame by body.

Professionally, if plagiarism occurs I think the author of the material should turn the colleague to a supervisor. This is in a perfect world, but in reality sometimes the actual author doesn't receive credit for their work. YES, the Internet does blur "legally owned" lines from websites. I have visited websites where this information doesn't appear on the actual the company's page. SAY NO TO PLAGIARISM!
